Nguyen Gia Thieu Street: A green space

(Baonghean) - I love walking on Nguyen Gia Thieu street at noon, especially in this autumn. Layers of green gardens on both sides of the street call the autumn wind to carry the sunlight "gently falling on the rows of trees" on the sidewalk. And your emotions will melt when suddenly a midday rooster crows, like waking up the smell of straw from the Hung Dung crop, or the sound of a bamboo broom stirring the corner of someone's garden... The street is truly a rare quiet space in the central area of Vinh City...

I love walking on Nguyen Gia Thieu Street at noon, especially in this autumn. Layers of green gardens on both sides of the street call for the autumn wind to carry the sunlight "gently falling on the rows of trees" on the sidewalk. And your emotions will melt when suddenly a noon rooster crows, like waking up the smell of straw from the Hung Dung crop, or the sound of a bamboo broom stirring the corner of someone's garden... The street is truly a rare quiet space in the central area of Vinh City...The outstanding children have made outstanding contributions to their homeland and country, but those family temples are still small, simple and solemn, not like somewhere else that has to be extravagant and expensive. That is also something worth pondering in the city!

The street has few modern services, and the food is also very simple with rustic dishes: porridge, veal, eel, and freshwater fish... But it is a favorite place for friends to meet up with close friends. A few bamboo beds placed on the street selling green vegetables, a tea shop with an old lady chewing betel and chatting... is enough to make the street bustling at noon! I got to know a poet of that street and read many of his poems. When writing, he often wrote the title that led to his feelings in the street as "Yen Village". He is sensitive and delicate to filter out the unique features of the street, or is the soul of that street in harmony with the feelings of poetry lovers and poets?; and, "Yen Village" has brought to his poems genuine emotions in every image, detail, and meaning that moves to the point of torment? I dare to call it a "love for the homeland to the point of" loving the house, the garden, and the street where one lives, without needing the obsession of "when we leave, the land becomes the soul"!

A part of the population at the end of Nguyen Gia Thieu Street still farm and raise livestock, but their lives have become more prosperous. Many families have built spacious high-rise buildings. However, their daily life still retains the traditional village life. The hamlet has become a block, the farmers have become urban citizens. Maintaining the traditional village life, the urban farmers are not indifferent to the new lifestyle that has spread from the crowded city; they filter out the good things to, with the support of the State, improve the infrastructure of the people, maintain the cleanliness of the alleys, streets, take care of the trees on the sidewalks and decorate the architectural constructions to gradually brighten the urban streets towards civilization...

I wonder, if one day at the end of the road where Hung Dung field grows new urban areas, what will Nguyen Gia Thieu street be like? Maybe I will no longer see the street at noon with its rare quietness; there will no longer be the humble appearance of the street to feel the autumn wind carrying "the gentle sunlight falling on the rows of trees"... But the echo of a Red Village - Yen Village will surely remain in the hearts of every person in the street, to always create for the street a unique feature of closeness and affection.
