(Baonghean.vn) - The beautiful weather in the first days of the new year created favorable conditions for spring outings and strolls. However, many people were not wearing helmets, carrying three or four passengers, and carelessly violating traffic laws.
 |
| Unlike previous years, when Tet (Lunar New Year) was usually marked by heavy rain and cold winds, this year the weather was sunny and pleasant, making it very convenient for people to go out and enjoy the festivities. However, many people were not wearing helmets while riding motorbikes on the road. |

| Even during the day, many people are careless and don't wear helmets when going out during Tet. |
 |
 | | According to observations by reporters from Nghe An Newspaper, during the days from the 1st to the 4th of Tet (Lunar New Year), people were seen freely traveling without helmets on all roads, most notably in Vinh City. |

During the Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Horse, it seems people carelessly... forgot about their helmets. But they also "forgot" that the three days of the holiday actually pose the greatest potential dangers from traffic, due to the increased number of people and the resulting fluctuating levels of alcohol on the motorcycles.
These photos, taken by a reporter on the third day of Tet (Lunar New Year), show this avoidable "forgetfulness" of traffic participants in Vinh City:
The majority of those who forget to wear helmets while participating in traffic are young people. Images of young men and women riding three or four people on motorbikes without helmets, swerving, driving against the flow of traffic, and even posing for photos when they see reporters taking pictures, were widespread on the streets of Vinh city during the Lunar New Year of 2014.

According to a report by the National Traffic Safety Committee, in just three days from January 30th to February 2nd (Lunar New Year's Eve), 182 traffic accidents occurred nationwide, resulting in 80 deaths and 214 injuries. Yesterday, February 1st (the second day of the Lunar New Year), traffic density was low, with few vehicles traveling long distances, and people mainly visiting relatives, yet there were still 66 traffic accidents, claiming the lives of 17 and injuring 95. Road traffic accidents accounted for almost all of these, with 65 incidents.

| It is mainly young people who violate the rules. |

To address the issue of traffic participants not wearing helmets, carrying more passengers than allowed, drinking alcohol while driving, and reckless driving, the Vinh City police have mobilized all their forces to strictly handle violations and ensure traffic safety so that all citizens can enjoy a safe Tet holiday.

However, despite increased inspections and controls, on many roads in Vinh City and neighboring districts, people still freely participate in traffic without wearing helmets or driving against the flow of traffic.
