Comrade Ha Tan Tien:69 years ago, under the leadership of the Party and directly the Uprising Committee, tens of thousands of revolutionary masses armed themselves with primitive weapons such as sticks and spears, along with youth self-defense teams, suicide workers, with the armed forces as the core, rose up to smash the domination of imperialism and feudalism. Within just one day, the uprising took place and ended in victory, the revolutionary government belonged to the people. And August 21st every year became the traditional day of the armed forces of Nghe An province.

Continuing the tradition of the “Red Self-Defense” soldiers in the revolutionary movement of 1930 - 1931, Nghe An Armed Forces always overcame all hardships and sacrifices, worthy of the tradition of the Vietnam People's Army and the heroic Soviet homeland. During the resistance war against French colonialism, Nghe An Armed Forces were determined to overcome all difficulties, build and firmly protect the important base area - the strategic rear not only of the old Inter-zone 4 but also of the whole country and of the brotherly Laos. Nghe An Armed Forces also acted as the core force on the fronts to destroy hunger and illiteracy and were a reliable force of the revolution in rural land reform.

During the resistance war against the American imperialists, Nghe An was an extremely important area of ​​the whole country. It was both the front line of the Northern rear and the direct rear of the great Southern front. The American imperialists considered Nghe An a key point in the war of destruction by air and naval forces against the Socialist North. Following the sacred call of the Fatherland, generations of cadres and soldiers from Nghe An were sent to the battlefields, a large number of young people, children of the ethnic groups in Nghe An, joined the army to fight the enemy, and tens of thousands of Nghe An youth volunteers served in combat on the battlefields.

In the rear, the army and people of Nghe An coordinated with other units to shoot down 553 aircraft of all types (ranked 2nd in the North), captured many pilots; sank and burned 36 warships and commando ships of the US and the puppet army; captured 28 commando and reconnaissance teams. Local troops and militia and self-defense forces (DQTV) alone shot down 112 aircraft, sank and burned 26 warships and commando ships of the enemy. In addition, they mobilized more than 40 million working days to open roads and serve the combat.

Comrade Ha Tan Tien:During the 69 years of construction, fighting and growing up, going through 2 resistance wars against invaders and wars to protect the Fatherland, performing international missions, both fighting and building, Nghe An Armed Forces were honored by the Party and State with the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces. There were 157 collectives of local army units, militia and self-defense forces and 69 officers and soldiers who were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the State. In November 2001, the Quy Tap Group was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces in the period of renovation by the State. In addition, Nghe An Armed Forces were honored to receive many other noble awards from the Party and State, the Party Committee - Command of Military Region 4, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee.

The achievements and growth of Nghe An Armed Forces over the past half century are thanks to the direct leadership and direction of the Party Committee - Military Region Command and the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee; the close coordination of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and departments, branches, and organizations; the love and care of the people of all ethnic groups, the wholehearted help, close coordination and cooperation of localities and friendly units, along with the strength of solidarity and friendship that international friends have given. The Provincial Military Command has advised on the development of many projects and action programs that are close to reality, close to the locality, and suitable to the situation, linking the building of the National Defense posture with the People's Security posture and successfully performing the task of defense diplomacy.

In recent times, the unit has regularly and strictly maintained the duty and combat duty regime, grasped the situation in the areas, contributing with other forces to ensure political stability, preventing hot spots from occurring. It has advised and directed the completion of the 2014 Defense Zone exercise in Con Cuong, Quy Hop, Dien Chau districts; the Storm and Flood Prevention - Search and Rescue exercise in Yen Thanh district to ensure safety and closeness to the area. Combat training tasks have been deployed synchronously and with quality. The provincial military has successfully completed the task of preventing and fighting forest fires and preparing for storm and flood prevention, leaving a beautiful image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the hearts of the people.
