Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu attended the ceremony and presented the titles and certificates of merit from the Prime Minister to the aforementioned outstanding individuals and collectives.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai commended and highly appreciated the leading and exemplary role of the management staff of cooperatives – the core of the collective economy with an important and meaningful tradition and development model of the Vietnamese economy.

“Over the past period, the cooperative sector has seen the emergence of a team of enthusiastic, responsible, dynamic, and creative cooperative officials who dare to think, dare to act, and dare to take responsibility before members and workers; there are many exemplary cooperative officials who dare to sacrifice their own and their family's interests for the benefit of the collective; many cooperative directors are constantly thinking and worrying day and night, seeking ways to advance the cooperative, such as opening up additional business activities, designing new product models for the cooperative, building brands, and expanding the market for agricultural products for farmers…”, the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

Looking ahead, the Deputy Prime Minister hopes that the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance and cooperative officials will continue to effectively implement the tasks of developing the collective economy as set out in the Resolution of the 11th Party Congress and Conclusion No. 56 KL/TƯ of the Politburo; focus on consolidating existing cooperatives; actively mobilize and guide the establishment of new cooperative groups and cooperatives; further promote the patriotic emulation movement, and build the Alliance into a solid economic, political, and social bloc. In particular, it is necessary to further enhance the quality of training and development for officials of cooperatives and cooperative unions, closely adhering to the production realities of cooperatives, cooperative unions, and localities; train many excellent managers, many strong and profitable cooperatives, and increasingly large-scale cooperatives, becoming advanced models in various sectors and fields of the economy...

Since April 11, 1946, when President Ho Chi Minh sent a letter calling on landowners and farmers to join agricultural cooperatives, nearly 70 years have passed, and the collective economic sector, with cooperatives as its core, has become an important economic component, making positive contributions to the cause of national construction and defense. In the recent years of reform, the collective economic sector has undergone significant changes; amidst difficulties, cooperatives have emerged that boldly innovate, adapt to new mechanisms, and operate effectively.

Drawing on the successful experience of cooperatives under the socialist-oriented market economy, most old cooperatives have been transformed into new-style cooperatives. This transformation has facilitated the consolidation of organization and management, the renewal of production relations, and the strengthening of productive forces within cooperatives; the autonomy of cooperatives has been enhanced, and members participate voluntarily. Besides the transformation and consolidation of old cooperatives, stemming from the need for cooperation among household economies, nearly 10,000 new cooperatives have been established nationwide across various economic sectors and fields, with diverse organizational forms and operating methods.

To date, there are nearly 20,000 cooperatives nationwide, contributing approximately 15-16% to the national GDP. Among these, outstanding examples include dynamic and innovative cooperative leaders and managers who have built many cooperatives in various fields, transforming them from struggling to strong brands, with some businesses achieving annual revenues in the billions of USD.
