The person who builds the standard school

(Baonghean) - During our working trip to Do Luong district, we were quite impressed by a typical factor in the movement to build national standard schools that many people working in the Do Luong education sector still affectionately call: "The person who builds standard schools". That is teacher Nguyen Thi Bay - Party Cell Secretary, Principal of Dong Son Kindergarten, Dong Son commune.

Tell us about the process of building a standard school at Dong Son Kindergarten, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bay

recalls the time when she was transferred to become principal (August 2010). At that time, the classes were arranged in the cultural houses of the hamlets; each hamlet had one class for all ages; the office of the Board of Directors was also only one room in the cultural house of hamlet 4. After taking over the facilities of the primary school and moving it to the new location, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bay led and directed the school to focus on renovating the school and classrooms to meet the requirements of preschool education; organizing boarding care; dividing classes according to age. At the same time, she did a good job of ideological work among the staff, teachers, and employees of the school to proactively prepare to build a standard school.

As Party cell secretary and principal, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bay actively advised the Steering Committee for building standard schools of the commune to clearly define the responsibility for building national standard schools as the responsibility of the political system and the people. From there, on the basis of 5 standards of national standard schools, clearly define the responsibilities of each organization in the political system, of the school and mobilize socialization. In the 2013-2014 school year, Dong Son Kindergarten achieved national standard school status. On a total area of 5,500m2, the school campus is designed to be neat and beautiful, with trees, flower gardens, clean vegetable gardens; 12 closed classrooms, separate dining rooms for each class group, playroom, and sports room. The quality of child care is increasingly improved, with the rate of underweight malnourished children decreasing to 6.3%...

Teacher Nguyen Tat Tay - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Do Luong district, shared: "Wherever there is difficulty, if Ms. Nguyen Thi Bay contributes, it will create positive changes". Before coming to Dong Son Kindergarten, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bay was the Principal of Bai Son Commune Kindergarten - an extremely difficult mountainous area. With her dedication and responsibility, she led and directed the school; advised the locality to mobilize contributions from the people along with budget support at all levels; mobilized 2 million VND from each management staff and 1 million VND from each teacher and staff for the school to borrow without interest within 3 years to build the school to meet the cultural office standard and then was recognized as a national standard school in June 2006. Before that, at Van Son Commune Kindergarten, in the position of Vice Principal of the school, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bay also made many contributions to bring this school to meet national standards in the early stages of building a national standard school in Do Luong district.

Teacher Nguyen Thi Bay shared: I am always imbued with President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on the revolutionary ethics of cadres, party members, civil servants and public employees. That is to demonstrate a sense of responsibility in all the work that we undertake; to say what we do, to understand and properly perform our duties, tasks and powers; which is mainly "cadres, party members, civil servants and public employees must wholeheartedly serve the Fatherland and serve the people". If we keep fulfilling our responsibilities, we will surely have achievements for ourselves and the collective".

Continuously in the past 3 school years, Dong Son Kindergarten has achieved the title of "Excellent Labor Collective" at the provincial level, Principal Nguyen Thi Bay has continuously achieved the title of Emulation Fighter at the provincial level and is proposing to be awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister.
