Training on skills in collecting and processing fisheries data

(Baonghean.vn) - From August 13 to 15, in Da Nang, 40 officials from 8 provinces (Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Soc Trang and Ca Mau) under the "Sustainable Coastal Resources" Project were trained in skills to collect and process fisheries information and data in co-management models.

The training course was organized by the Central Management Board of the Project “Sustainable Coastal Resources” (CRSD) in collaboration with the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center to enhance the professional capacity of staff of project units. The CRSD Nghe An Project Management Board had 2 staff participating.

During the training course, the staff learned about the Concept and advantages of coastal fisheries project management; Legal basis for fisheries management rights in Japan; Conflict management system in fisheries law in Japan; Concept and effectiveness of data collection methods; Data collection through co-management organizations; Lessons learned from Japan, Thailand and in the Southeast Asia region; Implementation of co-management in the CRSD Project - difficulties and challenges.

The CRSD project is funded by the World Bank. Also attending the training course were officials from the Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation, Directorate of Fisheries; Department of Fisheries Economics and Protection; Institute of Fisheries Economics and Planning.
