Simple but profound

The ASIAD opening ceremony began with a 45-second countdown, symbolizing the 45 countries and territories participating in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, followed by a brilliant fireworks display.

The opening stage was not too grand, but with a simple storytelling style, combining traditional and contemporary Korean art with unique visual and sound technology, the host country brought the participating delegations as well as the audience a journey back in time.

Starting with the prehistoric times of Asia with “Ancient Asia”, followed by “Asia meeting across the oceans”, “Asia one family” and then all moving towards the common goal of a great Asia integration - “Asia is the future and connected from today”.

The most impressive thing in the opening ceremony was the symbol of the Boat carrying 45 Asian countries and territories, true to the message of connecting the entire continent of the 17th Asian Games: "The breath of peace and the future of Asia".

The 17th Asian Games will officially compete tomorrow (September 21) with the participation of 14,000 athletes from 45 Asian countries and territories competing in 36 sports with a total of 439 sets of medals.

Korean A-list stars set the stage on fire

In contrast to the rather gentle and profound opening performance, the ceremony ended with an extremely vibrant performance by top Korean artists such as EXO, JYJ, Psy, Jo Sumi and Chinese pianist Lang Lang.

As usual, Psy brought his extremely famous song - Gangnam Style and received the response of more than 40,000 spectators present at the ASIAD Stadium as well as all athletes from 45 countries and territories in Asia.
