Hung Nguyen: The entire population mobilizes for irrigation work.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 11th, in Hung Lam commune, Hung Nguyen district People's Committee organized a ceremony to launch a campaign for all citizens to participate in irrigation work.

Over the past period, with the support of the state and the contributions of labor, money, and construction materials from the people, Hung Nguyen district has built over 90 large and small pumping stations, 372 km of canals, over 200 km of drainage canals, 57 km of dikes to prevent floods and waterlogging in the fields, and dozens of projects serving irrigation and agricultural production.

Responding to the campaign launched by the Provincial People's Committee (on the occasion of the National Day for Irrigation Work on October 16th), Hung Nguyen district continues to mobilize all sectors of the population to actively participate in practical activities: Encouraging people to regularly maintain and repair irrigation works; Focusing on dredging and clearing irrigation systems, improving fields associated with land conversion, land consolidation, building internal field transportation, repairing works in a timely manner for production, preventing and controlling flooding to protect winter crop production; Implementing the national target program on building new rural areas effectively…

Hung Nguyen District awarded certificates of merit to communes that achieved outstanding results in the irrigation movement.

During the nationwide campaign for irrigation work (from October 11th to 30th), Hung Nguyen district is determined to carry out the work of raising, reinforcing, and dredging 350 km of irrigation canals, clearing 125 km of drainage canals, and reinforcing 7 km of concrete canals… with an excavation volume of approximately 800,000 m3 and 1,200,000 man-days of labor, with a total cost of approximately 20 billion VND.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, mass organizations, people of Hung Lam commune, and 380 youth union members from 21 communes and towns proceeded to dredge the drainage canals in Hung Lam, Hung Xuan, Hung Tien communes, etc.
