(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 29th, Vinh University solemnly held the opening ceremony for its 55th training course and received the First-Class Independence Order.
The ceremony was attended by comrades: Nguyen Thi Doan - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Vice President of Vietnam; Pham Manh Hung - Deputy Minister of Education and Training. The school was also honored to receive congratulatory flower arrangements from the following members of the Politburo: President Truong Tan Sang, Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung; Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan; and members of the Central Committee of the Party: Pham Vu Luan - Minister of Education and Training, Phan Dinh Trac - Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee. Representatives from the leadership of Military Region IV, provinces, and other schools were also present.
Attending the ceremony, on behalf of Nghe An province were: Mr. Ho Duc Phoc, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; leaders of provincial departments and agencies; international guests; and generations of cadres, civil servants, and students of Vinh University.
The speech, delivered by Mr. Dinh Xuan Khoa, Provincial Party Committee member and Principal of the school, reviewed the glorious 55-year journey of the school. From a branch campus with only 17 initial staff members and 158 students in two departments, Mathematics-Physics and Literature-History, it became Vinh University of Education three years later, one of the first two universities of education in the socialist North.

Over its 55-year journey, Vinh University has grown into a major center for education, training, and scientific research in the North Central region and the entire country, making significant contributions to the cause of national construction and defense. It is a large and prestigious teacher training center, providing tens of thousands of teachers at all levels, making a meaningful contribution to the development of education and training in the country. With over 40,000 students and trainees from all over the country and from countries in the region, studying 50 majors in 18 faculties with various training methods, it is also a major center for postgraduate training. Vinh University is one of the first universities to successfully transition from a single-discipline university model to a multi-disciplinary university, establishing models for the education and training sector, and consistently implementing comprehensive and groundbreaking innovative solutions in higher education management. It has a sufficient number of qualified and well-structured faculty and staff, along with modern facilities and equipment, aiming to meet the standards of a key university.

Recognizing the university's achievements, Vinh University has been honored by the Party and State with many prestigious awards and titles, especially the title of Hero of Labor in the Renovation Period (2004), the First-Class Independence Order (2009), two times awarded the Friendship Order of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, and the second Independence Order in 2014. At the ceremony, on behalf of the President of Vietnam, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan presented the second Independence Order to Vinh University.
Speaking at the anniversary ceremony, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements of Vinh University in recent years. She noted that in the current context, with many opportunities and challenges for national development and to avoid falling far behind other countries in the region and internationally, the university needs to focus on innovating teaching methods, improving the quality of teaching and learning, and effectively implementing the principle of learning combined with practice, linking theory with reality, in order to enhance the capacity of both teachers and students and meet new requirements. She expressed her hope that the Ministry of Education and Training, the provincial leadership, and the people of Nghe An will continue to support the continuous development of Vinh University's educational endeavors.

On behalf of the provincial leadership, Comrade Ho Duc Phoc, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements of Vinh University over the past 55 years, which have contributed high-quality human resources to the province in particular and the country in general. He expressed his hope that Vinh University will be a leading training center in Nghe An, contributing to the successful implementation of the goals set forth in Resolution 26 of the Politburo, making Nghe An a center for human resource training in the North Central region. The province will pay close attention to and create favorable conditions for Vinh University to further develop for the cause of education and training.
