UN: ISIS is kidnapping women and using children as fighters.

According to Reuters, the United Nations said on October 2 that jihadist forces of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) group in Iraq have carried out mass executions, abducted women and girls for sexual slavery, and used children as fighters.

These actions constitute systematic violations that could be classified as war crimes.In a report based on nearly 500 interviews, the United Nations added that the Iraqi government's airstrike campaign against these Sunni Muslim insurgents had "caused numerous civilian deaths." The airstrikes targeting villages, schools, and hospitals violated international law.

In another development earlier that morning, security sources and local officials said militants had seized almost all (90%) of the town of Hit in Anbar province, western Iraq.
