Over the past three years, Lam Bong village, Bong Khe commune, Con Cuong district, has made remarkable progress; village roads have been paved with concrete, a spacious village cultural center has been built, and there are no drug-related issues in the village… all built with the consensus of the people.

As if to demonstrate the results achieved, Mr. Thang and the village head took us on a tour around the village. Wherever we went, he chatted enthusiastically with everyone. He was truly close to the people in this small village.Located near the limestone mountains in the commune, Ms. Hoang Thi Chien's family is classified as a poor household. Her husband passed away early, leaving her to raise two children on her own through odd jobs. Life is difficult, but she feels at peace knowing that the villagers and officials always visit, share, and encourage her. She recalls that in early 2013, the village proposed building a community center, with poor households being exempt from the cost, but Ms. Chien still contributed the full amount, divided equally among the family members. She believes that "this contribution is not only for the present but also for the future of our children…". With this understanding, 68 households, mostly agricultural workers and self-employed individuals with low incomes, readily contributed to the village's construction. Thanks to this, the village cultural center, worth over 200 million VND, was completed. Of this, the commune and district only contributed 30 million VND, with the rest contributed by the villagers themselves. In total, each villager contributed 450,000 VND, but the greater value lies in the consensus and transparency in the implementation. After the community center was built, the villagers collectively contributed funds and labor to pave the entire village's roads with concrete. To date, most of the village's roads are paved with concrete, with only about 150 meters remaining awaiting cement for completion.

| Mr. Luong Van Thang (far left) and the neighborhood committee encourage people to develop the economy and build up the village. |
He and the village committee regularly encouraged villagers to promote livestock farming towards commercial production and develop efficient crops. To date, Lam Bong village has many families who have become well-off and wealthy thanks to livestock development, such as Mr. Vi Kim Hao's family, who raises frogs, fish, and wild boars; or the model of raising chickens and pigeons in cages by the Women's Association leader, Hoang Thi Ha. Even the family of Village Head Nguyen Huy Chieu is quite well-off from raising pigs and chickens.
Thanks to the "stability and development" of the village, over the past three years, many young people have "stayed at home" to participate in household economic development. During this process, Mr. Thang, along with his colleagues in the Party branch and other mass organizations, regularly met with, encouraged, and nurtured outstanding members to join the Party. In 2013, the Party branch admitted one young Party member born in 1990, and in 2014, three outstanding young people's applications are being submitted to higher authorities for approval. Regarding this area, "The Party branch secretary is very happy; they are an important source of future leaders for the Party branch. This is different from before, when the Party branch only relied on retired officials..." Mr. Thang shared enthusiastically.
