November 2014: Railway industry sells electronic tickets

This morning, July 31, in Hanoi, the signing ceremony of the contract to provide the service "Electronic ticket sales system of Vietnam Railways Corporation" took place between Vietnam Railways Corporation and FPT Group (photo).

Accordingly, the Project will be implemented in 7 years, divided into 3 phases with a total investment cost of 197 billion VND for both sides. In which, phase 1: construction and installation of the system, lasting 120 days from the date of signing the contract; phase 2: provision of electronic ticket sales system via the Thong Nhat Railway website within 1 year, starting from November 21, 2014 to serve people in time for the Lunar New Year 2015; phase 3: provision of a complete electronic ticket sales system starting from November 21, 2015 for a period of 6 years. The complete system will be applied at all stations of the national railway nationwide.

The electronic ticketing system provides many ways for people to buy tickets such as: buying tickets via website, buying tickets via smartphone application, booking tickets via text message, buying tickets via automatic ticketing device at the station, buying tickets through agents... People can use domestic and international payment cards to pay for tickets.

On the other hand, the seat utilization coefficient and passenger flow analysis tools will help Vietnam Railways Corporation build business strategies suitable for each period to accurately meet the actual travel needs of people, thereby improving the efficiency of production and business activities and exploiting existing railway infrastructure.
