Promoting information and propaganda cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia
(Baonghean.vn) - On September 29, a Vietnamese press delegation led by Mr. Vu Thanh Son, Deputy Director of the Press Department of the Ministry of Information and Communications, began a visit to exchange experiences in press and propaganda activities at a number of press agencies, radio stations, and state press management agencies in Cambodia.

This is an activity within the annual exchange plan of press delegations under the agreement to promote cooperation and friendship in information and propaganda in the period of 2014-2015 between the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam and the Ministry of Information of Cambodia. According to the plan, the delegation will carry out a program of joint activities in the land of pagodas from September 29 to October 5.

On the first working day, the Vietnamese press delegation paid a courtesy call and exchanged information with Cambodian Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith; visited and worked with the Cambodian News Agency (AKP); visited historical and cultural relics: Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, Royal Palace... At the Ministry of Information and Cambodian news and press agencies, the delegation learned about and exchanged information, and shared experiences on press activities and state management of the press. Cambodia currently has 760 press agencies, including 383 print press agencies, 37 magazines, 200 newspapers of ministries and branches; 113 radio and television stations, some of which develop live broadcast programs, some of which relay broadcasts from other stations. Cambodian print, audio and visual press agencies are facing many financial difficulties, and most of them have switched to developing electronic newspapers. According to the leader of the Cambodian Ministry of Information, there are currently only 3 agencies under the Ministry of Information, including the Cambodian News Agency (AKP), Cambodian National Television (TVK), and Cambodian National Radio (RNK).

On this occasion, Cambodian press agencies expressed their hope that the Vietnamese side would pay more attention to sharing management and propaganda experiences, especially in information activities in major economic centers, provinces and cities of Vietnam. In addition, they also requested that the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications carry out many activities to help the Cambodian Ministry of Information in training and improving journalism skills and press management for the Cambodian side; through cooperation and friendship between press agencies, promote propaganda on the economic, social and cultural development situation between the two countries.
