Meeting with generations of leaders of the agricultural sector of Nghe An and Ha Tinh

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of August 24, 2014, in Cua Lo Town, a meeting and exchange took place between leaders of the Agriculture and Rural Development (ARD) sector through the periods of the two provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh. Attending were comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province and 45 delegates who were former leaders of the Agriculture sector of the two provinces of Nghe An through the periods.

Before the meeting, the delegation offered incense and flowers at the memorial site of late General Secretary Le Hong Phong in Hung Thong commune; and visited the model of new rural construction in Hung Tan commune (Hung Nguyen).

On behalf of the leaders of the Nghe An Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, comrade Ho Ngoc Sy, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department reported some basic features of the agricultural production situation in the first 7 months of 2014, accordingly, for the first time, the province's spring rice crop achieved the highest yield with 66.1 quintals/ha; the highest food output in terms of paddy was 736 thousand tons. Although the first months of the year had unfavorable weather conditions and the situation of pests and diseases on rice and shrimp was extremely complicated, the province promptly intervened to control the epidemic, not greatly affecting rice productivity, reducing damage to aquatic products; the area of ​​some key crops continued to increase; by August, 8 communes had met 19/19 criteria.

On the side of Ha Tinh province, Mr. Bui Quang Hoan, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, also informed and discussed some outstanding situations of investment and socio-economic development in the area, in which he mentioned some contributions of the agricultural sector; introduced some outstanding livestock production and product consumption models as highlights and supports for farmers in rural areas...

At the meeting, delegates acknowledged the progress of the agricultural sector; at the same time, they contributed their enthusiastic opinions and concerns about the work that the agricultural sector has not done for farmers and rural areas when farmers' income is generally too low compared to other sectors, some communes have achieved New Rural but still depend on the outside (labor export)... These are issues that the agricultural sector must solve in the process of restructuring the sector and the next term's Party Committee must consider in the process of planning development strategies.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, expressed his agreement and support for the annual meeting between the two sectors to listen and learn from each other's experiences. On behalf of the provincial leaders, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee provided more information on some major orientations in the province's socio-economic development through the implementation of Resolution No. 26 of the Politburo. However, the province's agriculture and rural areas still face some difficulties, so they need to make more efforts. The dedicated contributions of generations of leaders of the agriculture sector of the two provinces through the periods are valuable lessons for the current leaders of the agriculture sector as well as the province to absorb to complete the strategy for developing the new rural areas in the coming time.

Previously, within the framework of the meeting, on August 23, the delegates visited and studied the New Rural model in Hung Tan commune (Hung Nguyen) - one of 8 that achieved 19/19 NTM criteria in Nghe An. This is an annual meeting between the agricultural sectors of the two provinces. In addition to the purpose of visiting and learning from each other's experiences, this is an opportunity for the two agricultural sectors of the two provinces to exchange and coordinate work./.
