Luu Quang Vu - Xuan Quynh
One summer day in 1988, artists and the public were shocked to hear the news: The famous couple Luu Quang Vu - Xuan Quynh were involved in a traffic accident in Hai Duong.
On August 27, Luu Quang Vu and artist Doan Chau went to work with the Hai Phong drama troupe, bringing Xuan Quynh and her son Luu Quynh Tho and artist Doan Chau's family along, taking the opportunity to let the children swim at Do Son beach before starting the new school year. On the afternoon of August 29, returning, just past Phu Luong bridge (Hai Duong), the accident happened. News of the accident quickly spread throughout Hanoi, then the whole country.

According to artist Doan Chau, the car crossed Phu Luong bridge, going on a narrow and downhill road. In front of it was a Kamaz truck going slowly. The road was steep so any car passing through here had to be careful.
Suddenly, two women wearing helmets riding bicycles rushed down the embankment onto the road, cutting in front of the Kamaz, which braked to a halt. The driver of the commando was following behind and tried to turn the wheel to pass. And in that split second, a dump truck behind lost its brakes and crashed into the back of the commando, pushing it under the Kamaz in front.
The entire Luu Quang Vu family sitting on the right side were thrown onto the street. Mr. Chau confirmed that it was around 2:40 p.m. on August 29, 1988 (previously many sources said it was 3:30 p.m.).
