(Baonghean) - In recent days, everyone in the villages of Nam Xuan commune (Nam Dan) has been praising and complimenting Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoa in hamlet 3, Nam Xuan commune for his honesty when he picked up a handbag and returned it to the person who lost it.

At around 8:30 a.m. on August 2, while on his way home from Vinh City, passing through Cau Vac Street in Nam Linh Commune, Nguyen Huu Hoa saw a black bag lying on the side of the road. He guessed that the bag had been dropped by a careless passerby, so he stopped his car, picked it up, and asked around the people living on both sides of the road, but could not find the owner, so he had to take the bag home. Due to his busy work, it was only when he heard the phone ringing in his pocket that he remembered and took it out to answer. After talking, he knew exactly who was calling, and he did not hesitate to give the address.

Immediately afterwards, Ms. Dinh Thi Nam Huong, a teacher at Dang Chanh Ky Secondary School (Nam Dan) went to his house to get it back. Ms. Huong was moved when she received the intact bag with many important documents, some items as well as cash worth over 10 million VND. She offered to give him some money to thank him, but Mr. Hoa firmly refused. Talking to us, Ms. Huong said: “I didn’t think I could find it again, while Mr. Hoa kept the property in the bag intact for me and didn’t ask for anything in return, so I respect him even more. As a teacher myself, I take this as a lesson about humanity to teach my students.” As for Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoa, he confided very simply: “It’s normal to pick up lost items and return them to the owner. I just do the same as everyone else, I shouldn’t use things that aren’t mine.”

Originally a farming family with many economic difficulties, his wife, Nguyen Thi Thao, had to work as a worker at Matrix Company Limited - Bac Vinh Industrial Park. In addition to farming, Mr. Hoa also collects poultry eggs, waking up at 4am every day to go to Vinh market to sell to earn extra money to support his life and raise his two children who are at school age. Although life is difficult and deprived, he still maintains a pure heart and is loved by everyone. Commenting on Mr. Hoa, Mr. Nguyen Huu Thuy, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nam Xuan Commune, said: "His act of returning lost items makes me very impressed because in reality his family's life is still difficult. During this time, Nam Xuan Commune is promoting the study and following of Uncle Ho, this is a practical action, we need to set an example for everyone to learn from."
