The all-new Mazda2 model has just been officially produced in Thailand since September 17 for export to Australia, Southeast Asian countries...

According to information from the Japanese Mazda Corporation, the new Mazda2 (called Demio in its home country of Japan) will be produced by the Auto Alliance joint venture of Thailand (ATT). The first models will be exported to Australia before being exported to other Southeast Asian countries... This is the second factory in the world after the Hofu factory in Japan to produce the new Mazda2 (starting in July 2014) and the third factory in Mexico is expected to start producing this model in 2014.

“The rapid introduction of the all-new Mazda2 into production at three different plants around the world is a daunting and challenging task,” said Mazda President Masamichi Kogai in an official statement from Mazda Corporation. “We call the Hofu plant in Japan our mother plant, and we ensure that no matter where it is produced, the quality of the Mazda2 is the same, meeting the same quality standards, as well as being made in Japan.”

It is known that ATT started producing Mazda2 in 2009 and as of July 2014, they have produced more than 182,000 units. The Mazda2 model currently on the market is produced by ATT at the Rayong factory in Thailand, which is also where the Ford Fiesta models are born.

Currently, the new Mazda2 is only sold in Japan at an attractive price, equivalent to 12,600-20,400 USD depending on the version. Based on the KODO design language that has been very successful on senior models such as the Mazda3, Mazda6 or CX-5, this 4th generation Mazda2 is said to be a transformation compared to the previous generation.

The youthful, angular exterior with a large chrome-plated grille, combined with air vents to create an hourglass shape, reminds people of the grille of the luxury car from the same hometown, Lexus. The headlights and fog lights are compact and sharp, with the headlights having LED daytime running lights. The rear of the car is elegant and sporty; 17-inch wheels.

The interior of the Mazda2 is highly appreciated with many details like the interior of an Audi luxury car, with a steering wheel integrated with a series of control buttons, a touch screen that can be controlled via a knob next to the gear lever. In the high-end option, the car also applies information display technology on the windshield (HUD) similar to some high-end cars.

The heart of the all-new Mazda2 is the advanced Skyactiv engine with 3 versions: 1.3-liter gasoline engine (Skyactiv-G) and 1.5-liter diesel engine (Skyactiv-D). In which, the gasoline engine versions have a capacity of 99-120 horsepower depending on the region, the diesel engine has a capacity of 105 horsepower at 4,000 rpm, torque of 250 Nm at extremely low rpm of 1,500-2,500 rpm, equivalent to the torque of a conventional 2.5-liter gasoline engine.

The new Mazda2 also applies a series of modern technologies such as Mazda's i-Stop idle stop technology, i-Eloop regenerative braking system, high-performance Skyactiv-Drive automatic transmission or Skyactiv-MT manual transmission...

Currently, VinaMazda (part of Truong Hai Automobile Company - Thaco) is the only official manufacturer and distributor of Mazda cars in Vietnam. The models produced and assembled domestically are CX-5, Mazda2, Mazda3, Mazda6, the imported models are CX-9, BT-50.

It is expected that by the end of 2014 or early 2015, the all-new Mazda3 model with Skyactiv engine will be produced and launched by VinaMazda. Vietnamese consumers hope that the above Mazda2 skyactiv model will also be produced in Vietnam in 2015.
