(Baonghean.vn) - On August 18, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened a first-instance criminal trial against Le Sy Hao (born 1974, from Thanh Hoa, residing in Hoa Binh town, Tuong Duong, Nghe An) for murder and illegal possession of military weapons.

According to the indictment of the Provincial People's Procuracy, because he no longer had feelings for his wife, Le Sy Hao left his wife's hometown in Do Luong to go to Tuong Duong to rent a phone repair kiosk to live. Here, Hao met and dated Ms. HTH, who worked as a cosmetics seller. After a while, the two had a conflict, and Ms. H. asked to break up. On the evening of October 17, 2013, Hao came home drunk, annoyed by his "girlfriend's" attitude, so he went back to his room to get a pistol (left behind at the shop by a customer who came to repair his phone) and went to Ms. H.'s room to kill her.

Being stopped by Ms. NTT (Ms. H.’s neighbor), Hao turned back to the gate. After walking a distance, Hao turned back, pulled out a gun from his pocket and declared “I must shoot this girl dead” and fired a shot into the boarding house. The bullet did not go into Ms. H.’s room but hit LVĐ - Ms. T.’s son - in the stomach who was standing in front of his room door.

D.'s father rushed in to restrain Hao, but Hao managed to escape and ran back to his room, closing the door and hiding. D. was taken to the emergency room and had his wound bandaged. When the Tuong Duong District Police arrived, Hao was still hiding in his room.

Although D.’s injuries were not life-threatening, and the family did not request a disability assessment or compensation for health damage, Hao’s actions constituted murder. Along with being charged with murder, Le Sy Hao was also charged with illegal possession of military weapons.

As the legal representative of the victim at the trial, Ms. NT T asked the court to consider reducing the sentence and not requiring Le Sy Hao to compensate for civil liability to D. Previously, the authorities had prosecuted Le Sy Hao for illegally possessing military weapons, but at the trial, it was found that the gun Hao used to commit the crime was a homemade gun, not similar to a military weapon, so there was not enough basis to convict. After comprehensively reviewing the evidence, the panel sentenced Le Sy Hao to 7 years in prison for murder.
