Recession?!
(Baonghean) - What are your thoughts on the phenomenon of retired officials, civil servants, and public employees not submitting their Party membership documents?
- In my opinion, this should be considered a normal phenomenon, because according to regulations, elderly and frail party members are exempt from party activities.
- You should remember that the average life expectancy of Vietnamese people is currently 75 years, and over 40% of retirees continue to work normally. Therefore, retired officials and civil servants who abandon Party activities are not doing so for health reasons.
So, in your opinion, what is the reason?
In my opinion, this is a manifestation of degeneration.
- Retirement means "leaving office and returning to being an ordinary citizen," there's no longer any power or position to cause moral decay.
- Do you know that the people say that while officials and civil servants are working, they strive to join the Party to get promoted, and once they retire and lose their positions of power, they no longer need the Party? Some people join the Party not to contribute to the people but to become "revolutionary officials."
- But you must understand that retirement means fulfilling one's responsibilities to the State, and rest is a legitimate request. Many retirees only want to fulfill their duties as Party members, but knowing they will have to work as neighborhood or village officials, they don't submit their Party membership applications.
- A true Party member will never leave the Party, no matter how difficult or arduous the circumstances. Party members who only remain loyal to the Party while holding positions of power are opportunistic. The phenomenon of retired Party members abandoning Party activities is a warning about the fading ideals of a significant number of current officials and civil servants; it also highlights the weakness of Party branches at the neighborhood and village levels in nurturing and training young cadres.
So, in your opinion, how can we remedy this situation?
- It is necessary to strengthen the education of revolutionary ideals for Party members while they are still cadres, civil servants, and public employees so that they remain exemplary individuals even after retirement. Party branches in wards and villages must train young cadres to take on responsibilities, not relying on retired members. Party organizations must find solutions to overcome the situation of retired Party members abandoning Party activities, as this is a manifestation of moral decay.
