Vietnam's S-300 PMU1 missiles conduct exercises.

The S-300 PMU1 system that Vietnam possesses is the most modern long-range air defense missile system in Southeast Asia.

On the morning of October 28th, in Dong Nai, the Air Defense - Air Force Command held the opening ceremony for the 2014 command and staff exercise of a regimental headquarters, including live deployment of the S-300 PMU1 air defense missile system. Participating in the exercise were combat crews from Regiment 64, Air Defense Division 361, and Regiment 93, Air Defense Division 367, with nearly 200 officers and soldiers.

Participating units underwent two stages of competition: theory and practice. The practical test involved combat crews operating specialized vehicles in restricted terrain, towing vehicles stuck in mud, lifting and transporting missile ammunition, conducting terrain reconnaissance, and mapping.

The S-300 PMU1 long-range air defense system is one of the most modern air defense systems in the world. The S-300 PMU1 can engage targets such as aircraft, cruise missiles, and even tactical ballistic missiles. The S-300 PMU1 is equipped with various types of missiles, including the 48N6E, 48N6E2, 9M96E1, and 9M96E2, capable of destroying airborne targets at distances up to 200 km (with the 48N6E2 missile).

Currently, the S-300 PMU1 is the most modern and longest-range air defense system in the Vietnam People's Army and in Southeast Asia.
