Director of Vietnam Railway Authority dies in office

On the afternoon of January 22, Mr. Nguyen Huu Thang, Director of Vietnam Railways, Ministry of Transport, was found dead in his office.

Initial information said that at the end of the working day on January 22, the staff of the Vietnam Railway Department saw that the lights were still on in Mr. Nguyen Huu Thang's room, so they went in to check. There, they discovered that the Director of the Vietnam Railway Department had died in the room.

Immediately after discovering the incident, the police force was present at the headquarters of the Ministry of Transport at 80 Tran Hung Dao, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi to investigate and clarify the cause of death of Mr. Nguyen Huu Thang.

Earlier that morning, Mr. Nguyen Huu Thang reported on the railway socialization project at the Ministry of Transport. The meeting was chaired by Minister Dinh La Thang and Mr. Thang attended the meeting and reported on this project.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Thang was Deputy Director of the Railway Department, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Transport. He is preparing to retire in 2015.
