Within the framework of the program, the film week will screen films from the following countries: Korea, Thailand, Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam. The Korean film “The Thieves” will open the film week.

“The Legend Writers” is a tragic story about the fate of the pioneers who built the oil pipeline across Truong Son to prepare for the big, decisive battles. They still have the right to love and to live, they cannot choose to be born in peacetime or wartime, but they always hold their heads high and control themselves.

Life in peacetime is sometimes different from wartime only in that there are no guns and death, but it is also a constant struggle to find the truth of life for each person. The film is directed by Bui Tan Dung with the participation of actors: Meritorious Artist Hoang Hai, Truong Minh Quoc Thai, Tang Bao Quyen.

“Banh Mo” is a story about two girls who still wish to become boys because they hate the complicated rules they have to follow. One day, after eating cakes from a beautiful shop owner, their long-standing wish suddenly comes true.

At first, the two girls were very happy to be boys, but then many inconveniences began to appear, forcing them to find a way to become girls again. The film was made by the group “Bay banh beo”, with the guidance of director Nguyen Trong Khoa, in the Toto filmmaking class program – Nurturing future filmmakers organized by CGV in 2014.

With the desire to bring Vietnamese cinema closer to audiences in the region and the world, the two films brought this time are an opportunity to introduce to Indonesian audiences typical movies and short films (made by young Vietnamese people with a lot of passion and enthusiasm).

Republic of Korea Asean Cinema Weekend is an activity to celebrate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Korea.
