Dr. Pham Ngoc Dong: When using computers or Ipads and smartphones, not everyone knows how to protect their eyes properly. There are two characteristics that are not good for users and increase the risk of dry eyes. That is, the screen emits radiation, this radiation increases heat and evaporation, making users susceptible to dry eyes. Second, when concentrating on using the computer, it leads to forgetting to blink, the frequency of blinking decreases, leading to the surface of the cornea and eyeball not being lubricated by the body's natural tears. At that time, people feel uncomfortable such as: gritty, watery eyes and even difficulty opening their eyes in severe cases.

When looking at a computer screen or devices such as Ipad, smartphone for a long time, the user's eyes must look at a fixed point, leading to eye fatigue. Therefore, if you have to use the computer for a long time, remember to blink. If you work for 30 minutes or more, you should change your vision and let your eyes rest for 5 to 10 minutes before continuing to work. Resting will help your eyes not have to work too much.

Please note the following:

- Blink more often, do not strain your eyes too long to focus on the computer screen.

- The screen should be placed on one side of the window, sunlight should not shine on the screen or eyes. The screen should be placed 50-60 cm away from the eyes, the center of the screen should be placed 10-20 cm lower than eye level because the eyes will work more comfortably when we glance down to read or work closely, the keyboard should be placed 30-40 cm away from the eyes.

To reduce the amount of radiation from the screen to the eyes, you should put a filter on the screen or use a liquid crystal display.

- You need to give your eyes a 10-15 minute break between each working hour. When resting, you should look into the distance, gently massage your eyelids and relax.

- Pay attention to supplementing your diet with vitamins, especially vitamins A, E, C, B2... found in green vegetables, red fruits, and drink plenty of water.
