In a sideline information posted on the homepage of the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF), this organization expressed shock at the exorbitant ticket prices that Vietnamese people had to pay to buy seats to watch the second leg of the semi-final.

CĐV Việt Nam đang phải chi những khoản tiền lớn để thể xem trận bán kết lượt về AFF Cup 2014 tại Mỹ Đình

Vietnamese fans are having to pay large sums of money to watch the second leg of the AFF Cup 2014 semi-final at My Dinh.

According to the AFF homepage, the ticket price that Vietnamese people have to pay is the most expensive ticket price at the AFF Cup 2014. As known, My Dinh has a capacity of about 40 thousand people, however, only about 13 thousand tickets are sold by AFF to fans (the rest are sold through official documents, invitations, etc.).

Even among these 13 thousand tickets, no one dares to answer how many tickets actually reached fans, because many people waited in line to buy tickets "all night long" but in the end still had to go home empty-handed.

According to this site, the cheapest pair of tickets was originally sold for $7, but after reaching the “black market”, the price was increased 10 times, up to $70. Meanwhile, a ticket (1 ticket, not a pair) for a good seat at My Dinh Stadium, which can accommodate 40,000 people, originally cost about $20 (400,000 VND), but when it reached the black market, it would cost $200.

According to AFF's observations, the ticket may have increased to 250 USD by now. Even a few hours before the match, the price can reach 300 USD/ticket (about 6 million), which is 15 times the original value of the ticket. That is a number that few people can imagine, because if we calculate the average income of Vietnamese people, perhaps many people will have to "fast for a whole month" to buy enough to enter the stadium.

These figures make the Southeast Asian Football Confederation feel shocked. According to them, Vietnamese people are spending the most money to watch matches at this year's AFF Cup. In fact, the ability of Vietnamese fans to access original tickets is very limited, so having to buy tickets on the "black market" is also "understandable".

According to AFF, if the Vietnamese team continues to play well, defeats Malaysia in the semi-final and reaches the final, the ticket price for the second leg final at My Dinh Stadium on December 20 will increase even more.
