This morning (January 22), the website of the Vietnam Writers Association announced the works that won the Association's 2014 literary awards.

Accordingly, the award in the prose category went to author Tran Mai Hanh with the work War Minutes 1-2-3-4.75 (National Political Publishing House). Tran Mai Hanh was originally a war correspondent, he was the first person to write an article reporting from the Independence Palace about the historic moments of April 30, 1975. War Minutes 1-2-3-4.75 is a comprehensive and detailed sketch of the entire process of the collapse along with portraits of most of the Saigon army generals, the fate of the leaders of the Saigon regime in the last four months of the war. The work consists of 19 chapters, with a novelistic style, but is clearly annotated about the original documents, handwriting and sources.

In the poetry category, the collection of Short Epics and Poetic Dramas (Writers Association Publishing House) by Nguyen Thuy Kha won the prize.

There are two works that won prizes in the Criticism Theory category, including One Hundred Years in the Realm (Literature Publishing House) by Professor Phong Le and Modern Vietnamese Poetry: Process and Image by Associate Professor Nguyen Dang Diep. In his book, Professor Phong Le introduces 23 authors whose works flourished in the period 1930 - 1945, which he calls "the golden generation of Vietnamese literature". In his work, Associate Professor Nguyen Dang Diep looked at the development of modern Vietnamese poetry based on the transformation of the paradigm of poetic thinking, the change in the way poets see the world, and the way poets renew poetic forms.

The literary translation category honored translator Dao Minh Hiep for translating the Russian literary work - The War Passed by author Kanta Ibragimov - sponsored by the Fund for Supporting the Promotion of Vietnamese and Russian Literature - Vietnam Writers Association and the Russian Government, jointly published by Lokid Publishing House (Russia) and Literature Publishing House (Vietnam).
