Nghe An General Hospital said it had just performed emergency treatment to save the lives of three victims poisoned by eating puffer fish.
The victims were transferred to the hospital from the evening of January 24, including Nguyen Van Tu, born in 1941; Hoang Van Hoa, born in 1954 and Nguyen Thanh Tung, born in 1968, all residing in Nghi Tan commune, Cua Lo town, Nghe An province.
Relatives of the victims said that after going fishing and eating puffer fish on the boat, when they returned home at 6 p.m. on January 24, all the victims had symptoms of headaches, vomiting, and slow consciousness. Immediately after that, their families rushed the victims to the Nghe An Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment.
After receiving the patient, the doctors promptly conducted the necessary tests, administered intravenous fluids, and performed other treatments.
By the morning of January 25, the victims were out of danger and their health had improved significantly; they are currently being monitored and treated by doctors.
Doctors at Nghe An General Hospital also advised people in coastal areas not to prepare puffer fish for eating, because puffer fish is one of the most highly toxic fish. When people prepare and prepare puffer fish for eating, if they are not careful, the puffer fish's toxins will seep into the fish's flesh.
People with puffer fish poisoning will be in danger of death if not detected and treated promptly./.
