The US is resupplying Jordan with weapons to fight ISIS.

The US has indicated it is ready to supply Jordan with ammunition in the coming weeks.

This action was taken to support a greater role for Jordan in airstrikes against the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) group.

The U.S. State Department and Department of Defense have not yet commented on Jordan's request for weapons assistance. However, U.S. officials have indicated that the U.S. is planning to deploy additional weapons supplies to Jordan.

These moves by the US come after the King of Jordan requested greater US assistance in the fight against IS. Jordan is stepping up airstrikes against the Islamic State group after IS released a video showing the burning alive of a Jordanian pilot.

The US Department of Defense estimates that Jordan dropped approximately 72 bombs in a retaliatory attack against ISIS in Syria last week.
