Nghe An passenger bus overturned in Laos, 1 dead, 7 injured
(Baonghean.vn) - The Thuan Thanh passenger bus carrying more than 40 people was on its way to Nghe An when it overturned while going down a pass in Bolikhamxay province (Laos). The accident resulted in 1 death and 7 injuries.
On the morning of December 26, news from the Cau Treo International Border Gate Border Guard Station (Ha Tinh province) confirmed that a passenger bus with a Nghe An license plate had a serious accident in Pak Xan district (Bo-ly-kham-xay), about 100km from Cau Treo.
Major Nguyen Huu Tho, Deputy Chief of the Cau Treo International Border Guard Station, said the accident occurred at around 6 a.m. on December 25 in the Da Pass area of Pak Xan district.
At that time, the Thuan Thanh passenger bus with license plate UN - 3456, driven by a driver named Son (Nghe An), was carrying more than 40 people from the capital Vientiane (Laos) to Nghe An province. When the bus started to go downhill, it suddenly lost control, crashed into the embankment and flipped down the cliff.
The accident caused Mr. Luu Thien Thai (born in 1991, residing in Yen Thanh district, Nghe An) to die on the spot. 7 other passengers (identities unknown) were seriously injured.
Upon receiving the news, the Bolikhamxay provincial authorities quickly arrived at the scene to take the victim to the emergency room and reported to the Cau Treo border post.
Upon receiving the information, the Cau Treo International Border Gate Border Guard Station deployed forces and vehicles to rescue and transport the victims back to Vietnam.
Currently, Lao authorities are detaining the driver and the vehicle involved in the accident for investigation.
