Launching the photo contest "Vietnam - A Country for Peace"

In preparation for the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly (IPU-132) to be held in Vietnam in 2015, on January 29th in Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union launched a photo contest titled "Vietnam - A Country for Peace".

The contest is open to Vietnamese citizens or foreigners currently studying, living, and working in Vietnam, and no older than 35 years of age. With the message "Vietnam – a country with a young, dynamic, friendly, and peace-loving population," submitted photographs must reflect the contest's theme and message, be taken with a mobile phone, tablet, or digital camera, and must not have won any national or international photography competitions or press photography awards. Submitted photos must be taken by the author themselves and have a minimum file size of 500K.

The deadline for submissions is March 10, 2015. The awards ceremony will take place in March 2015. The organizing committee will award 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes, and 5 Consolation Prizes for two categories: photojournalism and single photos. The First Prize includes cash and a scholarship worth 15 million VND; the Second Prize includes cash and a scholarship worth 10 million VND; the Third Prize includes cash and a scholarship worth 8 million VND; and the Consolation Prize includes cash and a scholarship worth 3 million VND.

In particular, the first prize winner for the photojournalism category, in addition to the accompanying prize, will be nominated by the competition organizers to participate in the "Youth for the Homeland's Seas and Islands" journey in 2015. The winning authors will also receive a certificate from the competition organizers.
