(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of February 2, 2015, in Hanoi, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province held a meeting with the Nghe An expatriate community in Hanoi.
Attendees included: Nguyen Manh Cam - former member of the Politburo, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Learning, and Chairman of the Nghe An Hometown Association in Hanoi; Nguyen The Ky - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; leaders of central ministries and agencies, both current and retired; and Nghe An businesspeople residing in Hanoi.
Representing Nghe An province were: Mr. Ho Duc Phoc - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Tran Hong Chau - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; members of the Standing Committee, Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee, and representatives from provincial departments and agencies.

| Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong reported on the socio-economic development situation of the province in 2014. |
At the meeting, people from Nghe An province residing in Hanoi listened to Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong's report on some of the province's socio-economic achievements over the past year and its direction and tasks for the coming year. Accordingly, in 2014, Nghe An province completed and exceeded 25 out of 27 targets; the growth rate reached 7.24%; food production reached over 1.2 million tons, the highest in recent years; many effective economic models were developed and replicated; the new rural development movement spread widely, with 33 communes achieving new rural standards; budget revenue reached 7,652 billion VND, equivalent to 113.7% of the provincial People's Council's assigned budget, an increase of 20.7% compared to 2013; many key projects were focused on and completed within the year, such as National Highway 1A; 5 railway overpasses, Dung Bridge, Khe Ang Bridge, Vinh Airport, and Cua Lo Seaport were also upgraded. Investment promotion activities have been reformed and yielded many results; the cultural and social sectors continue to see many positive changes; national defense and security are maintained, and social order and safety are ensured… Provincial People's Committee Chairman Nguyen Xuan Duong thanked and highly appreciated the contributions of Nghe An compatriots in Hanoi; and hoped to continue receiving their support in the future to help Nghe An develop and prosper even more.

The meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, like that of a family. Fellow Nghệ An natives in Hanoi offered suggestions and ideas to help Nghệ An better exploit its potential and strengths, with the aspiration of transforming Nghệ An into a prosperous province in the North and essentially an industrial province by 2020, as outlined in Resolution 26 of the Politburo. The goal is to make Nghệ An worthy of its cultural and revolutionary traditions, as the birthplace of beloved President Ho Chi Minh, and a place of pride for every Nghệ An native.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Ho Duc Phoc expressed his deep gratitude for the large turnout of Nghe An compatriots in Hanoi, demonstrating their enthusiasm and responsibility towards their homeland. The Provincial Party Secretary stated: The results achieved in the first year of implementing Resolution 26 of the Politburo are truly promising, comprehensive, and represent an initial breakthrough; creating momentum and a foundation for Nghe An to make a special breakthrough in industrialization and modernization in the next term. With the unity and concerted efforts of the entire Party and people, the support of the Central Government, and the backing of Nghe An people living abroad, Nghe An is determined to achieve the goal of reaching an estimated 30 trillion VND/year in budget revenue by 2020, becoming the economic center of the North Central region and one of the most prosperous provinces in the North, as outlined in Resolution 26…
