Roses for those "WHITE-BACKED"
(Baonghean.vn) - The word "rose," the queen of flowers, is sometimes used to refer to less-than-pleasant forms of sharing, including in the medical field. However, the freshest, most beautiful roses deserve to be given to true doctors, those who silently and nobly save lives, bringing what people desire and wish for most: good health.
On the other hand, the reality of life for doctors and nurses is not always rosy; sometimes it's bleak. There are times when they face the struggle of making ends meet, while their salaries are meager. Some, not wanting their white coats to be stained, try to find other part-time jobs to supplement their income, even jobs unrelated to their profession, such as delivering phone bills.
Surely such matters distract you. But surely, when at the bedside or on the operating table, you know how to put those worries aside to focus on the patient. However, it would be best if you were not troubled by those distractions. Therefore, if "commissions" imply something material, then I hope you receive many "commissions" fairly, through your abilities and hard work. So that you don't have to worry about other "commissions." So that you can be more focused on your work of saving lives.
There was a young mother, a doctor, who had just given birth. When she was a little girl, seeing her father suffer from a stomach ailment, she dreamed of becoming a doctor to cure him. Now, as a mother, in her diary for her child, answering the question: What is your biggest dream, Mom?, she wrote: To become a really good doctor.
So, I wish you and your colleagues the best in achieving your greatest dream – to become truly excellent doctors. I offer you the blessings of virtue, compassion, and talent. And good health too, so that you may cherish and return to us the precious gift that God has given us.
And let's not forget the roses that convey our trust and gratitude to you, the unsung heroes in white coats.
(Written as a gift to my family doctor Hoai Thu and my friends - doctors on my friend list as well as in real life).
