Russia warns of appropriate retaliation against the US missile defense system.

Reuters reported on December 9th that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated Moscow would be forced to respond "appropriately" to the deployment of the US missile defense system in Europe.

RIA news agency quoted Lavrov as saying: "We warn that at some stage in the deployment of American missile defense systems, we will have to take appropriate measures to ensure security."

"We have no intention of engaging in a costly arms race, but we will equip the country with robust defense capabilities."
