Truck collides with passenger bus, driver trapped in cabin

(Baonghean.vn) - A truck traveling in the opposite direction crashed head-on into a passenger bus, trapping the drivers of both vehicles in the cabin and injuring them. At least 5 passengers escaped unharmed.

The above traffic accident occurred at 7:30 am this morning, December 27 (2014) at km 385+500 of National Highway 1A in Quynh Thien Ward, Hoang Mai Town (Nghe An).

According to people who witnessed the accident, at the time of the accident, truck with license plate 36N-4633 was traveling from Thanh Hoa to Vinh. When it reached the above location, it suddenly hit the median strip, then collided head-on with passenger bus with license plate 37B-01244 traveling in opposite directions. The impact was so strong that it pushed the passenger bus to the side of the road, the front of the two vehicles stuck together. People had to use crowbars and excavators to rescue the two drivers with broken legs who were trapped in the cabin.

The identities of the two ambulance drivers have not been determined. The front of both vehicles were severely damaged. At least five passengers on the bus escaped.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Hoang Mai City Police promptly arrived at the scene to direct traffic on the route and investigate the cause of the accident./.
