Texas health officials described the new case as “very concerning” and said the health department was prepared “for the possibility of additional cases in the future.” The infected health worker worked at a Texas hospital and had contact with Thomas Eric Duncan, who died on October 8 after contracting Ebola in Liberia.

The US President immediately assured that the United States would make “much stronger efforts” in the fight against the Ebola virus and called on Europe to do the same. According to the World Health Organization, since March, the Ebola epidemic has killed 4,493 people out of 8,997 cases.

According to a White House spokesman, during a video conference between British Prime Minister Davis Cameron, French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, President Barack Obama called on leaders to "redouble their efforts" in the fight against the dengue fever pandemic originating in Africa.

Since the announcement a month ago, the US has sent 3,000 troops to West Africa to build the logistical infrastructure needed to fight Ebola. President Obama has also repeatedly expressed his disappointment with the indifference of some countries. However, Mr. Obama did not name those countries.

“In the fight against Ebola, the world as a whole is not doing enough. There are countries that have the capacity but are not doing enough,” Obama said on Tuesday. “Countries have to do it, all of us have to do more to eliminate this epidemic until it no longer threatens our countries.”

Prime Minister Cameron's spokesman said the leaders agreed that in the face of “the health emergency of recent years”, the international community “must act faster and do more” to prevent the spread of the disease.
