The mission of the Working Group is to inspect the implementation of vaccination work in localities, including expanded vaccination, service vaccination and the results of the measles-rubella vaccination campaign in expanded vaccination.

Accordingly, 11 delegations will conduct large-scale inspections in provinces in 4 regions across the country to tighten vaccination safety.

The inspection activities have been stepped up by the Ministry of Health as recently a small number of children have used service vaccines, mainly concentrated in a few large cities. However, recently there has been a shortage of service vaccines, especially the 6-in-1 and 5-in-1 vaccines produced by Glaxo SmithKline and Sanofi Pasteur due to supply disruptions.

This situation has made the vaccination service unable to meet the people's needs for the above vaccines, especially in some big cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho, causing frustration among the people and public opinion.

The above situation leads to a mentality of waiting for vaccination services, creating the risk of disease outbreaks in these areas while vaccines to prevent similar diseases in the Expanded Immunization Program are always fully guaranteed by the Ministry of Health and meet requirements on quality, safety and effectiveness.

According to information from the Department of Preventive Medicine, currently, the expanded vaccination program to prevent dangerous infectious diseases in children has been implemented in all communes and wards of provinces and cities with an annual usage of about 35-40 million doses of vaccine to vaccinate about 1.6 million children born.

In 2014 and early 2015, the largest ever measles-rubella vaccination campaign was safely administered to more than 19 million children by the Expanded Program on Immunization.

Thanks to expanded immunization, Vietnam has eradicated polio, eliminated neonatal tetanus and reduced millions of child deaths due to infectious diseases./.
