(Baonghean.vn) - In response to World Glaucoma Week, from March 9 to March 13, 2015, Nghe An Eye Hospital organized a screening program and provided free medicine for Glaucoma patients.

Glaucoma (also known as migraine) is a chronic disease that can lead to blindness due to irreversible damage to the optic nerve if detected late and not treated promptly. Therefore, early detection and treatment of glaucoma is very important, thereby preventing the risk of blindness.

Patients are screened at Nghe An Eye Hospital

In Vietnam, Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness after cataracts. Although there are no specific statistics, in fact, at Nghe An Eye Hospital, the number of patients with this disease is very high and most patients come to the clinic when the disease is in the late stages, losing almost all of the eye's ability to cover.

With the aim of reducing the rate of blindness due to Glaucoma and helping patients better understand this dangerous disease, from March 9, 2015 to March 13, 2015, Nghe An Eye Hospital will conduct free screening, consultation, Humphrey visual field measurement, and optic nerve head CT scan for patients. The program will be held at the Examination Department, Nghe An Eye Hospital, No. 11, Mai Hac De Street, Vinh City.

Doctors recommend that people over 45 years old, with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, people with small eye structure, high farsightedness or family members with glaucoma should go for screening to rule out the disease.
