Thai Hoa Town: Striving for 3 communes to achieve New Rural Area status in 2015
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of March 12th, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong – Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee for New Rural Development (NRD) – and the working group met with officials of Thai Hoa Town to discuss NRD construction.
Also attending the meeting were representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Transport, the Department of Planning and Investment, the National Target Program Coordination Office for New Rural Development, and representatives from wards and communes in the area.

At the meeting, Mr. Le Phuc An, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Hoa town, reported on the New Rural Development program in the locality. Over the past four years, the Party Committee and people of Thai Hoa town have strived to improve, starting from an average of 5.2 criteria per commune in 2010; by the end of 2014, they had reached an average of 16.3 criteria per commune. Among them, Nghia My and Nghia Thuan communes achieved the New Rural Development goal, completing all 19 criteria in 2014. In addition, Mr. Le Phuc An also pointed out that the remaining communes still face many obstacles in areas such as cultural infrastructure, environment, irrigation, etc., preventing them from meeting the New Rural Development criteria.
The Steering Committee members also assessed and pointed out the difficulties in implementing the National Target Program on building new rural areas and suggested solutions for implementation in the coming year. Leaders of the communes proposed solutions to difficulties related to the budget for building new rural areas, procedures and documentation, environmental issues, etc.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Le Tien Tri, Secretary of the Town Party Committee, outlined the plans for organizing and implementing the New Rural Area program to quickly transform Thai Hoa town into a town that has achieved the New Rural Area (NRA) status. The Steering Committee will assign members to be responsible for each commune, promptly addressing any obstacles and difficulties to meet the criteria. Relevant departments, according to their areas of expertise, will direct, guide, and promptly urge communes to complete the unmet criteria. Simultaneously, a movement will be launched to collectively build NRA in the town and its communes. It is expected that by August 31, 2015, the three communes of Dong Hieu, Tay Hieu, and Nghia Hoa will have completed all 19 NRA criteria.
After listening to the Steering Committee for New Rural Development and the leaders of the communes present their opinions on the situation of implementing New Rural Development in their localities and the remaining difficulties, Comrade Dinh Viet Hong also gave directives, focusing on propaganda work among the people, integrating programs and projects, mobilizing all resources for New Rural Development under possible conditions, and the leadership should hold regular progress reports to accelerate the implementation process and complete the New Rural Development criteria as soon as possible.
