Rescuing a mother and her child after a traffic accident

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of March 4, information from Nghe An General Hospital said that the hospital's doctors and nurses are trying to save a mother and her child after a traffic accident.

Previously, at around 6:15 p.m. on March 3, pregnant woman Nguyen Thi Thuong (born in 1988, residing in Nghi Van commune, Nghi Loc district) was taken by her family to Nghe An General Hospital for emergency treatment in critical condition.

Ms. Thuong's child is being cared for at the Neonatal Department, Nghe An General Hospital.

At the time of hospitalization, Ms. Thuong was 8 months pregnant. At 4:30 p.m. on March 3, Ms. Thuong was riding her motorbike home from a garment company in Bac Vinh Industrial Park when she collided with a 4-seater car after the car avoided a herd of cows crossing the road.

Ms. Thuong suffered multiple injuries, a broken pelvis, and heavy blood loss. Immediately afterwards, doctors performed a cesarean section to save the 8-month-old fetus and transferred Ms. Thuong to the Department of Surgical Intensive Care for emergency treatment.

After the surgery, the 3.2 kg baby boy - Ms. Thuong's child - was in poor health and had respiratory failure and had to be transferred to the intensive care unit, Neonatal Department for treatment.

Doctor Tran Minh Long - Head of the Department of Surgical Resuscitation, Nghe An General Hospital said that the pregnant woman Thuong is currently on a ventilator, in very critical condition due to multiple injuries. Doctors are monitoring her traumatic brain injury. According to the family's wishes, this afternoon (March 4), the pregnant woman Thuong will be transferred to a hospital in Hanoi for treatment.

Ms. Ho Thi Su (52 years old, Ms. Thuong's mother) said that Ms. Thuong has been working as a garment worker for 3 years now. In 2014, Ms. Thuong got married to Mr. Ho Trong Liem and this is the couple's first pregnancy.
