(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 6, 2015 in Quang Binh, within the framework of the program "1 million trees fund for Vietnam" jointly organized by the General Department of Environment (under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment) and Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk) held a tree planting ceremony at the tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap (at Vung Chua, Yen Island - Tho Son village, Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district (Quang Binh).

The program “1 Million Trees Fund for Vietnam” has been implemented by Vinamilk and the General Department of Environment over the past years. During his lifetime, General Vo Nguyen Giap loved planting trees and flowers. He always paid attention and gave profound advice on the significance of planting trees for the environment, the country, each family and each citizen. In order to express gratitude to the General, the Program “1 Million Trees for Vietnam Fund” organized a tree planting launching ceremony in 2015 at Vung Chua, Yen Island, a particularly meaningful work for the natural environment in restoring the landscape flora of Tho Mountain - a spiritual land, the resting place of a brilliant military legend, and at the same time a practical activist contributing to educating revolutionary ideals and ethics, as well as raising awareness, consciousness and responsibility of everyone to build and protect the environment, protect the environment, protect water resources, create a green - clean - beautiful landscape and respond to climate change for today and tomorrow.

Immediately after the ceremony, delegates, people and more than 200 youth union members of Quang Trach district participated in planting more than 13,000 trees (including 13,000 pine trees and 16 Thanh Hoa coconut trees 4.5m high) at the tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap, worth about 600 million VND out of the total of nearly 5 billion VND that Vinamilk and the General Department of Environment have planted in recent years in almost all areas of the country.

The ceremony was also attended by Mrs. Vo Hoa Binh and Mrs. Vo Hanh Phuc, the two daughters of General Vo Nguyen Giap, and family members. In addition, the program also had the participation of Miss Ngoc Han, the program's goodwill ambassador.

Following Quang Binh province, in 2015 and the following years, the program "1 million trees for Vietnam Fund" will continue to plant trees in many other cities across the country, expanding to areas where trees bring practical benefits to the community.

Representing the unit that initiated the program "1 Million Trees Fund for Vietnam", Ms. Bui Thi Huong - Executive Director of Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company - Vinamilk shared: "Along with other community programs of Vinamilk such as the Vietnam Growing Up Milk Fund, Vinamilk Company implements the program "1 Million Trees Fund for Vietnam" with the desire to join hands with the community to improve the living environment around us, for ourselves and future generations. Up to now, the Fund has planted trees in 11 provinces and cities across the country and today in Quang Binh. To develop the density of trees as the set goal, Vinamilk will carry out the program continuously for many years in the provinces and cities of Vietnam according to the proposed tree planting needs of each locality.
