Actively searching for and excavating the graves of volunteer martyrs in Laos

(Baonghean.vn) - On March 13, 2015, Major General Tran Tien Dung, Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 4, Head of Steering Committee 1237 of Military Region 4 led a delegation of Military Region 4 to work with the Special Working Group of Xa Van Na Khet province (Laos) on the task of searching and excavating the graves of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos during the dry season of 2014 - 2015. Dr. Kham Phon - Vice Chairman of the province, Head of the Special Working Group of Xa Van Na Khet province received and worked with the delegation.

Currently, in the province of Xavannakhet - Laos, there are still about 350 graves of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who have died and have not been collected and brought back to the country. In the first 3 months of the 2014 - 2015 dry season, with the efforts and overcoming difficulties of the staff of the 584 Martyrs' Grave Collection Team (Military Region 4) and the enthusiastic support of the Special Working Group of Xavannakhet province, along with the Party Committee, authorities and people of the Lao ethnic groups, the 584 Martyrs' Grave Collection Team has surveyed, searched and excavated 13 martyrs' graves in 6 districts of Xavannakhet province.

To continue effectively carrying out the collection task during the remaining time of the 2014-2015 dry season, at the meeting, the Steering Committee 1237 of Military Region 4 hoped that the Special Working Group of Xa Van Na Khet province would continue to pay attention to and help the Martyr Grave Collection Team 584 (Military Region 4) in surveying and exploiting information sources among all classes of Lao ethnic people to organize the search and exhumation of the graves of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts to bring them back to the country as planned. The Military Region 4 Command also requested the Special Working Group of Xa Van Na Khet province to continue assigning cadres to the grassroots to help the Martyr Grave Collection Team 584 in the process of organizing the search and exhumation in remote areas, in accordance with the customs and practices of Lao ethnic people. At the same time, create all favorable conditions for the 584 Collection Team to complete the construction of temporary houses to care for and burn incense for the martyrs' graves found before organizing to bring them back to Vietnam for burial.
