Provincial People's Committee discusses agricultural planning until 2020

(Baonghean.vn) - This morning, March 20, under the chairmanship of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong, the Provincial People's Committee met to listen to and give opinions on the Agricultural Development Plan of Nghe An province to 2020, with a vision to 2030. Attending were representatives of a number of provincial departments.

At the meeting, the general opinion of the delegates was that the development of an agricultural development plan until 2020, with a vision to 2030, is very necessary. Although the agricultural sector has made a very important contribution to the economic development of the province, the income and life of people who rely on agricultural production are still low; the agricultural sector is still affected by many negative impacts of natural disasters, epidemics and market fluctuations; the application of scientific and technological advances is still limited, the competitiveness of agricultural products of the province is not high...

Accordingly, the agricultural development plan to 2020, with a vision to 2030, will focus on building and developing balanced and sustainable commodity production areas; building and developing high-tech agriculture to improve productivity and quality associated with sustainable consumption. By 2020, the average growth rate will be 4-4.5%/year, the agricultural structure will account for 77%, the total grain output will reach about 1.2 million tons, the average income will be 80-90 million VND/ha; rural household income will increase by 1.7-2 times compared to 2013. In particular, it is necessary to organize well the linkage between production, processing and consumption in agricultural production; invest in technological innovation, improve the processing capacity of factories processing industrial crops, livestock products, and aquatic products in the area.

After listening to the opinions of the departments and branches, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee concluded: The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development - the unit in charge of developing the project needs to absorb the comments, re-evaluate the current situation of the agricultural sector to focus on reviewing and supplementing the planning, paying attention to a number of issues such as: strengthening the management of agricultural land use; focusing on investing in science and technology in production and building models with high practical applicability; investing in technical infrastructure systems serving agricultural production; implementing well the agricultural restructuring program, increasing product value associated with sustainable development in agriculture, on that basis, completing the project to submit to the Provincial People's Committee soon.
