The Remix faces allegations of rigged results.
Halfway through the competition, this exciting music show is sparking controversy over alleged favoritism towards Toc Tien and Son Tung. The producers deny these allegations.
Recently, social media and forums have been widely sharing information about the leaked final results of The Remix, even though only half the competition has passed. According to this "ranking," Toc Tien is the winner, Giang Hong Ngoc is the runner-up, while Son Tung is in third place. PB Nation is rumored to be eliminated this week, followed by Isaac and Bao Anh, while Dong Nhi will stop at the top 4. Although it's just a rumor, many viewers are starting to feel concerned about the fairness of what is considered the hottest music competition currently.
The suspicion that Toc Tien was favored by the organizers stems from the fact that both she and Son Tung are ambassadors for the program's main sponsor. In Live Show 5, which took place last weekend, this suspicion was further fueled when Toc Tien received 39.5 points for her performance of the song "Da Co Hoai Lang," despite her voice being considered not smooth enough and unsuitable for the song.
Many sources also speculated that Son Tung's third-place finish was due to a deliberate arrangement and agreement between him, the sponsor, and the organizers.

The final "rankings" have been circulating on social media in recent days. |
A day after live show 3, Ngo Thanh Van posted a message on her personal page that sparked a major controversy: “There’s nothing good about it. I’m a woman of few words, but everything has to be fair. The playing field must have rules. I thought things would change after all these years, but who knew it would still be the same dark chessboard as before…” The “action star’s” statement was believed to be aimed at Cat Tien Sa, the company that holds the rights to produce The Remix and also the first season of Dancing with the Stars that she participated in. After 5 live shows, Isaac – Ngo Thanh Van’s student – quickly rose to prominence. Possessing the necessary and sufficient elements of an entertainer such as good looks, a good live singing voice, skillful dance moves, and the ability to command the stage, Isaac was always highly appreciated by the judges and supported by a large fan base. However, his team always ranked near the bottom in each live show after the judges’ scores and text message votes were combined.
Speaking to VnExpress, Ms. Vu Thi Tuyet Van, Deputy General Director of Cat Tien Sa Company, stated that rumors about the winner before the final results were unfounded. "We know there are many negative rumors about bringing two 'favorite' artists of the sponsor into this competition, but all of them are inaccurate. The organizers of The Remix invited Toc Tien and Son Tung to participate in the program before the brands they represent became the main sponsors. We have produced many reality TV shows and have never been bound by any sponsor regarding the results. Any sponsor is only interested in the program's popularity, ratings, media impact, etc., not in who wins or loses. We need to look at the matter from a broader perspective."
Ms. Van asserted that even if Son Tung and Toc Tien received low scores and were eliminated in any live show, the sponsors would not intervene, because, in the producers' view, finding a deserving champion who is recognized by the audience is the greatest success for both the program and the sponsors.

Isaac was judged to have suffered many disadvantages, despite delivering some well-rounded performances overall. |
Regarding Isaac's case, the producers believe the singer is one of the most promising talents in Remix and a breath of fresh air alongside familiar faces like Son Tung, Dong Nhi, and Toc Tien... "Our view is to provide maximum support for the development of talent, and if Isaac asks for help, we are ready to provide it to the best of our ability. The relationship between the producers and all contestants, including Isaac, has been good so far. We are not concerned about rumors of personal conflicts. As for whether Isaac has been treated unfairly, let time tell. Reality TV is full of unpredictable surprises."
The singers suspected of rigging the results also spoke out. Son Tung affirmed: "I will go to the best of my ability, and the outcome will depend on fate. I never thought about participating in this competition to compete for the highest ranking, and I think my colleagues feel the same way."
Previously, Toc Tien had repeatedly denied receiving preferential treatment over other contestants in the competition. "Look at what I showed on stage and tell me exactly how I was favored. To use an analogy, does that mean the principal's child doesn't have the right to excel academically?"

Tóc Tiên faced a lot of pressure as she was perceived to have received preferential treatment over other contestants. |
Sharing her thoughts on her performance at The Remix live show 5, Toc Tien expressed complete satisfaction at creating a connection between the Word music-infused arrangement by Long Halo and DJ Hoang Touliver and the contemporary folk elements presented by Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc. As for why she received such high scores, the singer left the answer to the judges.
Judge Luu Thien Huong stated that the scoring system is a combination of the arrangement, vocals, performance style, and the emotions the singer conveys. However, the female musician did not explain why she gave the maximum score to the performance of "Da Co Hoai Lang," even though she acknowledged that Toc Tien's singing wasn't exceptional.
A representative from Cat Tien Sa shared that the producers do not interfere with the judges' scores. However, if any irregularities occur, the organizers will provide feedback and lessons learned to the judges in internal meetings based on audience opinions. "We often remind the judges not to let personal emotions influence their judgment or be too harsh on the initial performances, but it's difficult to avoid disagreements, because everyone has their own opinion," Ms. Van said.
