Cyclone Hudhud has officially made landfall in India.

(Baonghean.vn) - On Sunday, October 12th, Cyclone Hudhud made landfall on the eastern coast of India, killing three people and causing extensive property damage. Prior to this, local authorities evacuated more than 370,000 people from dangerous areas.

Cyclone Hudhud, with winds reaching 200 km/h, is considered one of the super cyclones that made landfall on the eastern coast of Andhra Pradesh, Visakhapatnam, at 11:30 PM (approximately 2:30 AM Vietnam time). Indian rescue agencies reported two fatalities due to falling trees and a third death caused by a house collapsing due to heavy rain.

According to the head of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDRF), major highways from the port city of Visakhapatnam have been blocked due to fallen trees and power poles. Local authorities stated, "The NDRF's two priorities are to clear these roads and evacuate victims from the danger zone."

Hudhud also affected the neighboring state of Orissa, which had been severely impacted by Cyclone Phalin in October 2013, which killed 18 people and caused extensive property damage. The Indian Navy announced it was ready to respond to any situation with medical personnel, helicopters, rescue boats, and other relief supplies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a ministerial meeting on Saturday evening, October 11th, to discuss measures to help respond to Super Cyclone Hudhud. Continuous weather forecasts urged residents in high-risk areas to evacuate to safer locations and called on fishermen to stay ashore.
