The headquarters of the US National Intelligence Agency was attacked.

US police are searching for the gunman who opened fire at the headquarters of the US National Intelligence Agency (NSA) at Fort Meade, Maryland, USA.

Local police said a building at the NSA headquarters was damaged by multiple bullets in the March 3 attack.

NSA spokeswoman Meagan Roper said the FBI is investigating the incident. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Police said earlier they were investigating reports that the shooting may have originated in a parking lot in the Baltimore-Washington area. However, police spokeswoman Alicia Woods said police do not believe the shooting took place there.

Hours earlier, police also received reports of a shooting about 12 miles away in Laurel, Maryland, along Interstate 95.

Police are searching for the person responsible for the attack on an eastbound truck that shattered its windshield. Both occupants were not hit by the bullets but suffered minor injuries from flying glass and were taken to hospital.
