Jorge Mendes is still the boss in the "player agent" world.

Last year, these four clubs alone spent more on agents than all the other first division clubs combined. Other Premier League clubs with limited budgets can only spend moderate amounts on agents. Burnley spent £711,240, Leicester City also spent £1,608,418. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace, Hull, Aston Villa and Southampton spent no more than £3 million.

These statistics summarize the amount of money that Premier League clubs spent on agents between 1 October 2013 and 30 September 2014. This type of fee has been officially listed and recognized in the Premier League's financial books since the 2009-2010 season. The figures have given a general and detailed view of the 'income' of agents each time a new contract is successfully agreed.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have admitted that football 'agents' have helped them a lot and that the huge sums spent were completely 'worth the money'. With those brokers, Chelsea have had Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas.

Liverpool spent £117 million to make a 'blood change' after last year's disappointing season, including the Southampton trio of Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert. However, like Manchester City, the port city team also bought a player related to a third party. Therefore, the fee for this broker must be completed before they can get a new player. That player is Lazar Markovic, while at Man City it is Eliaquim Mangala, who cost the club £40 million.

The third person involved in the Mangala transfer deal is 'super agent' Jorge Mendes. According to Sportsmail, Mendes has made transfers worth an estimated total of over £1 billion during his career and pocketed £100 million. The Premier League has never been 'afraid' to spend money on new players. So giving football 'agents' a little more is not a big deal.
