Opening of the 132nd IPU Assembly

At 7:30 p.m. tonight (March 28), at the Dien Hong Meeting Room of the National Assembly - Hanoi, the Opening Ceremony of the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly (IPU-132) took place.

The opening ceremony was attended by more than 900 delegates representing 160 delegations from member parliaments, associate members, observers and international guests.

The 132nd IPU General Assembly, taking place from March 28 to April 1, is a political event of great historical and diplomatic significance, demonstrating the proactive and active spirit of deep integration of the Vietnamese National Assembly, a responsible member of the global inter-parliamentary organization and Vietnam's position in the international arena.

At the General Assembly, parliamentarians from around the world will participate in discussions on the theme “Sustainable Development Goals: Turning Words into Action”. This is a major and central theme, both assessing the results of the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to which UN members have strongly committed since 2000 and setting out frameworks for further development.
