Launching response to National Action Month on Population

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 4, in Vinh City, the Provincial People's Committee held a launching ceremony to respond to the National Action Month on Population and celebrate Vietnam Population Day (December 26).

Attending the event were representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Provincial Labor Federation, the Provincial Women's Union, a number of departments, branches and a large number of people from 25 wards and communes in the city.

This is a meaningful activity to kick off the series of responses to the National Action Month on Population in the province. With the theme "Controlling the population growth rate - For the rapid and sustainable development of the homeland and the country", the purpose of the action month is to raise awareness and promote the responsibility of authorities at all levels, unions, organizations, families and the whole society about the meaning and importance of population and family planning work for the health and happiness of each person, each family, for the sustainable development of the country. At the same time, it will strengthen the participation, close coordination, and active synchronization of countries and international organizations in population and family planning work.

At the launching ceremony, the Provincial People's Committee requested Party committees, authorities and sectors to continue to strengthen leadership, direction, inspection and supervision and prioritize resource investment for population work. Strengthen communication and mobilization work, diversify forms, innovate content to suit the needs of the target audience, build many models and activities, focus on disseminating achievements, results and difficulties and challenges in population work. For the health sector, the population needs to focus all efforts and positive solutions to effectively implement the goal of reducing the birth rate, reducing the rate of third or more children, curbing the rate of increasing gender imbalance at birth and improving population quality. Provide adequate, timely and diverse quality reproductive health care/family planning services to meet people's needs, and strengthen social marketing of contraceptives for people.

Since 2010, the Prime Minister has decided to make December every year the National Action Month on Population. After five years, with many meaningful activities, the National Action Month on Population has made an important contribution to raising awareness of the entire political system and contributing to the province's population work achieving remarkable results.
