"Vietnam's Sea and Island Culture and Tourism Week - Hanoi 2014" aims to introduce, promote, and honor the unique cultural values of Vietnam's sea and island regions, affirm the tourism potential of these areas, attract investment, and create momentum for economic, cultural, and social development in provinces and cities with sea and islands.
According to the plan, the activities of the "Vietnam Sea and Island Culture and Tourism Week - Hanoi 2014" will include: an exhibition "Impressions of Vietnam's Sea and Island Culture and Tourism"; an art program "Honoring the Culture of Vietnam's Sea and Island Regions"; a seminar "Preserving and Promoting the Cultural Values of Vietnam's Sea and Island Regions"; a cultural and artistic exchange program for students with the theme "Youth and Vietnam's Sea and Island Culture"; and a display introducing typical cultural, tourism, and culinary products from the sea and island regions...
This program involves many organizations such as the Ministry of Education and Training; the Coast Guard Command; the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; the Institute of Oceanography; and the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of 15 provinces and cities...
The maritime economy, including marine tourism, is being identified by the Party and the State as one of the important orientations contributing to promoting the country's economic development as well as protecting national sovereignty.
With a coastline stretching over 3,260km, more than 2,773 offshore islands, and numerous beautiful beaches, Vietnam possesses advantages that promote the development of its coastal and island tourism.
To harness the potential and strengths of Vietnam's coastal and island tourism, the Government has approved the Vietnam Tourism Development Plan with a vision to 2030, which includes a strategy to promote the development of coastal and island tourism and a breakthrough direction for the coming years.
