(Baonghean) - “As a grassroots Youth Union secretary, I told myself that I needed to do something to encourage young people in the villages to rise up…”. That is the sincere but also responsible confession of Vi Thi Vui, Secretary of the Youth Union of Yen Khe commune (Con Cuong), a girl who has a comprehensive farm that harvests hundreds of millions of VND/year.

In Yen Khe commune, Ms. Vi Thi Vui - Secretary of the Commune Youth Union is always respected by the villagers. Because she has done very "extraordinary" things, becoming a "billionaire" with a model of orange growing and raising livestock and poultry. At Vui's age, many friends either pursue their studies and then stay in the city to make a living, or will leave their hometown to find work in industrial parks and export processing zones. But Vui is the opposite. Graduating from Hanoi University of Agriculture 1 with many job opportunities, she decided to return to join the local Youth Union movement and make a living and make a living on her own homeland.

Born in 1982 in a family of four siblings, parents are farmers. Despite staying up late and waking up early, working day and night, the family's life is still very difficult. Realizing that the land in the countryside is still abundant and fertile, it is a favorable condition for developing agriculture and livestock. Vui said: "The land in my hometown is very large, favorable for developing agriculture, but it still depends a lot on the weather, climate and consumer market. Therefore, many people in the countryside are not interested... With the support and companionship of my husband's family, my husband and I invested in a farm with 600 orange trees and developed livestock...".

In 2008, with a small capital, mainly borrowed and supported by the family, the couple decided to buy more land to expand the farm. Starting from the first hoe strokes on the long-abandoned land full of reeds and overgrown grass, then under the calloused hands of the young couple, the land became fertile, waiting for the results from the orange crop, corn fields and the livestock and poultry that are multiplying every day. Up to now, the success of the farm model has been confirmed, the annual output of oranges and corn each has also yielded about 6-7 tons, oranges alone with a selling price of 25,000 VND/kg in the garden, Ms. Vui's family has an income of 170-175 million VND/year. Adding all the income from the comprehensive farm, each year her family earns hundreds of millions of VND.

The exciting thing is that her model is spreading because many local young people, after working far away, have returned to their hometown to start a business. Vui shared: “Every year, my family receives many young people who come to visit and study the model to apply it back home. I am very happy and always willing to impart all the experience accumulated through work and the knowledge learned at school to them, hoping to help them change their lives and become rich right in their homeland.”

When evaluating Ms. Vi Thi Vui, Mr. Vi Van Bach, member of the Standing Committee of Con Cuong District Youth Union, proudly said: “Vui is an active and hard-working person. The couple built a stilt house worth over 1 billion VND. From the success of Ms. Vui's comprehensive farm model, we are building a plan to replicate it among union members and youth in the district, contributing to establishing a solid career in their homeland, and developing the district's socio-economic situation.”
