After winning the double championship at the Sarawak Chief Minister's Cup 2015, Hoang Nam continued to play brilliantly at the Davis Cup.

Unlike the 3-0 victory over Turkmenistan in the opening match, this time the Vietnamese team did not have a smooth start. Leading player Nguyen Hoang Thien fell 0-2 (6-7 and 1-6) to Kareem Allaf in the first singles match.

Ly Hoang Nam - who just won the double championship at the Sarawak Chief Minister's Cup 2015 in the ITF's junior group one - therefore entered the second match with great pressure. If he could not defeat Bruno Abdel Nour, the Vietnamese team would lose the match.

In the very first serve game, Hoang Nam lost his break-point. However, the player who had just returned to the Vietnamese team made an excellent comeback to win the first set 6-4.

In the second set, Hoang Nam barely gave his opponent a chance to cause trouble. The Tay Ninh native broke in the third and fifth games, going straight to a 6-1 victory. Thanks to that, the Vietnamese team tied the score 1-1 in the match against the Syrian team.

After the singles match, Hoang Nam continued to team up with Do Minh Quan to play doubles, facing Bruno AbdelNour and Marc AbdelNour. They easily defeated their opponents after two sets with scores of 6-2 and 6-4.

Thanks to these results, the Vietnamese tennis team has soon won a ticket to the semi-finals of the Davis Cup BNP Paribas 2015, Group III, Asia-Pacific region, competing for a promotion spot. Most likely, the next opponent will be the Hong Kong team.

If they win the right to advance to Group II, coach Truong Quoc Bao and his team will receive a $10,000 bonus from the Vietnam Tennis Federation.
